Viktorija Jarkina, attorney-at-law in Latvian Justice Ministry working groups

On September 24 2008, Viktorija Jarkina and others began their activities in a working group at the Latvian Ministry of Justice. The task is to create a draft plan for an “International private rights law”. The law aims to ensure effective regulation of international private rights issues in civil and commercial liability relationships.

Since May 10 2008, Viktorija Jarkina has also formed part of another working group to create a draft “Modernization concept for the law of obligations section of Latvian Civil law” by December 1 2008. The concept is a political planning document which will require support from the Cabinet of Ministers. The paper is expected to provide a basis for amendments to the Law of obligations section. The aim is to ensure that the law complies with practice and foreign countries’ experience.
